Genealogical Research The Butler County Historical Society is proud to offer the following records to help with your Genealogical Research! Many of these records are one of a kind and have been in storage for many years. Check back often as we will be adding more indexes in the coming months. Unless noted otherwise, all these records pertain to Butler County, PA Index of Marriages, Deaths, Businesses, and other items of genealogical interest from more than 2000 papers dated 1806-1901 - available for purchase on CD!!! Registers of School Children - Connoquenessing Twp Most of these registers include the child's age, birthdate, parent name, and name of school. Revolutionary War Veterans' Pension Applications Our Research Room Available in our research room are some local family histories, a collection of Butler County histories, cemetery inventories, and historical collections on specific subjects like the Bantam car, the Jeep, Armco, and many others. Other Butler County Research Resources Butler County PAGenWeb - Start your research online. This great site was compiled over several years by great volunteers from across the country. It includes a large list of indexes for Butler County records. It's a great place to get organized for your research visit to Butler County. Prospect Area Preservation Society - This active group is working to preserve the great historical records and artifacts from Prospect and the Franklin Township area. Butler County Genealogical Society - This group formed on January 7, 2003 and is actively involved in locating and preserving Butler County's rich Historical and Genealogical records. They function for the benefit of already existing resources like the Butler Area Public Library's Genealogical collection and the Butler County Historical Society and therefore has no office or building to upkeep. Butler Area Public Library - One of the largest Genealogically related collections in the northwestern part of PA. An extensive collection of various county histories, newspapers on microfilm, city directories, maps, census records, an online obituary database, and more!!! Butler County Courthouse - Even though the Courthouse burned, no records were destroyed. Birth and death records from 1893-1905, marriages from 1885 to the present, wills, estates, and deeds are located on the first lower floor of the Government Center, behind the Courthouse. Divorces, naturalizations, civil, and criminal court records are located on the first floor of the Courthouse. |
