COOPER CABIN PIONEER HOMESTEAD – 2010 SCHEDULE

 

Saturday, May 15               Annual Civil War Living History Weekend - Canceled.

Sunday, May 16                  This event has been canceled. The cabin will open on June 6.

1 p.m. - 4 p.m.                     

                                                Docent-led tours of the cabin will also be available.

Sunday, June 6                   Blacksmithing

1 p.m. - 4 p.m.                      Blacksmith Ryan Stauffer demonstrates his skills as a blacksmith and shows us how the pioneers obtained everyday items like nails.

Docent-led tours of the cabin will also be available.

Sunday, July 11                   Pioneer Children Cooking Day

1 p.m. – 4 p.m.                     Join Stan Malecki as he presents a continuous, interactive demonstration of what pioneer children helped their mother cook.

Sunday, August 1               Genealogy  Day at the Cabin                                                                                                                                                                                                                             

11 a.m. – 4 p.m.                   Butler County Historical Society and the Butler County Genealogical Society  will have volunteers on hand to answer your genealogically related questions.  How to start your research and breaking down your brick walls as well as information on resources available in this area.  Bring your family information with you so we can help.

Sunday, August 15            Pioneer Cooking

1 p.m.-4 p.m.                        Stan Malecki will provide demonstrations of the foods the pioneers made and the ingredients they used.  Come taste the foods our ancestors enjoyed.

12 p.m.-5 p.m.                      Join us for a day of pioneer demonstrations (and tastings) ranging from apple cider, apple butter, to sauerkraut making.
